CURRENT OPEN POSITIONS

PURCHASING & INVENTORY COORDINATOR - FULL TIME (EAST BOOTHBAY)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator owns the flow of materials that keeps production moving at Hodgdon Tenders. This role ensures the right materials, components, and consumables are in place to meet production schedules—without delays, shortages, or excess inventory.

 

Working closely with production, project management, and department leads, this position assists with purchasing, ensures inventory accuracy, and coordinates the flow of materials across the operation. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced boatbuilding environment where attention to detail, organization, and follow-through directly impact production schedules and keep builds moving successfully. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production momentum and preventing avoidable delays.

Primary priorities:

  • Ensure production is never delayed due to missing or incorrect materials

  • Maintain accurate, reliable inventory levels

  • Support efficient material flow across departments

  • Build strong vendor relationships and improve purchasing efficiency over time

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with department managers to identify and prioritize material needs based on production schedules

  • Source materials, equipment, and services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliable supply

  • Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring pricing accuracy, timely delivery, and alignment with production needs

  • Track and expedite orders, especially long-lead or critical items, to avoid production delays

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, components, and consumables within company systems

  • Perform regular inventory counts, reconciliations, and adjustments to ensure accuracy

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries; resolve discrepancies related to quality, quantity, or pricing

  • Maintain stockroom organization and ensure materials are properly stored, labeled, and accessible

  • Stage and distribute materials to production teams to support workflow and minimize downtime

  • Proactively communicate material availability, shortages, and delivery timelines to production and project teams

  • Coordinate domestic and international shipping and freight logistics as needed

  • Maintain proper documentation and compliance for SDS/MSDS materials, including labeling and storage [AH2] 

  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing practices, inventory accuracy, and material flow

  • As production grows, contribute to improving systems, processes, and organization of materials across the operation

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1–2 years of purchasing, inventory control, or related experience preferred (manufacturing, marine, or industrial environments a plus)

  • Comfortable using computer systems, data entry, and inventory or work order software

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through

  • Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and follow through independently

  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across teams

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to meet production-driven schedules

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Computer and standard office equipment, including inventory and work order software, spreadsheets, and email

  • Label printers, handheld barcode scanners, and related stockroom equipment as implemented

  • Pallet jacks, carts, and other material handling equipment; forklifts or similar equipment as trained and authorized

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily indoor work in stockrooms, offices, and production support areas within a boatbuilding facility

  • Regular exposure to a shop environment, including moderate noise, dust, and movement of equipment and materials

  • Occasional work in covered or outdoor loading areas during deliveries or shipments, with exposure to variable Maine weather

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods while performing stockroom and receiving tasks

  • Ability to bend, squat, and twist, including reaching into shelving and storage locations

  • Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 20 lbs., with occasional heavier lifts assisted by equipment or team members as appropriate

  • Ability to climb stairs and one- to two-step ladders to access storage areas or shelving

 

SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Standard schedule is Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM

  • This position is full-time, year-round, non-exempt

  • Candidates must be punctual, safety-conscious, and committed to working as part of a high-quality, professional marine manufacturing team

COMPOSITE TECHNICIAN - FULL TIME (DAMARISCOTTA)

POSITION SUMMARY: All phases of composite boat construction
 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Female/male mold assembly to include filling and fairing joint seams and applying mold release wax

  • Kit fabrication involving cutting fabric to desired sizes, direction

  • Material lay-up and installation of peel ply, fabrics, flow media, vacuum and feeder lines

  • Mixing of resin materials by weight/volume

  • Infusion monitoring for temperature, vacuum infusion and time of infusion

  • Modular installation of infused pieces for bulkheads, floor systems, decks and pilothouse

  • Finishing, trimming and fitting of composite parts

  • Some wet lay-up and wet preg is required for secondary bonding and tabbing

  • Grinding and sanding for secondary bonding

  • Works ‘hands on’ on multiple projects

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience working with composites

  • Basic carpentry skills for staging and platform construction, templates and molds and cutting and fitting pieces

  • Must be able to wear a respirator

  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the work schedule

  • Must be able to use measuring tools

 

ESSENTIAL MENTAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Flexibility to work in standing, squatting, or kneeling positions, as well as reaching overhead with occasional twisting and bending while performing any of the above tasks

  • Stair and ladder climbing is required

  • Ability to work with epoxy/vinyl ester/polyester resins and adhesives

  • Ability to work in small spaces as required

  • Minimal lifting required above 75lbs.

  • May be required to travel both domestic and internationally to perform Tender service and maintenance

DESIGNER - FULL TIME (DAMARISCOTTA)

Hodgdon Yachts is searching for a Designer with 1-3 years of experience at our Tenders Division in Damariscotta, ME who will assist with the design of custom Tenders for the super yacht industry.  Successful candidates will have working knowledge of mechanical design and drafting.  Familiarity with naval architecture, boatbuilding methods and composite constructions are a plus.  They will assist senior members of the engineering team with preparation of drawings and documentation for fabrication and construction, as well as liaise with the production manager and other members of the production team to bring designs to completion.  We offer the opportunity to work on world class boats, great work environment, excellent benefits including health insurance, paid time off, holidays, 401(K) with employer match, and four-day work weeks.


Major Responsibilities/Activities:​

  • Work directly with all individuals in the Design and Engineering Department as well as all other departments to support efficient production

  • Communicate with and support production department design needs based on the overall production schedule

  • Navigate, manipulate, or create 3D models and the associated drawings

  • Learn the basics of composite construction to assist with the design of components and tooling

  • Prepare models for 3D printing

  • Review specifications of equipment and designs to aid with regulatory compliance and safety considerations


Minimum Requirements:​

  • 1-3 years of experience working as a Designer

  • Familiarity with boat systems, boat construction, and naval architecture

  • Experience with 3D modeling, engineering drawing standards, and Microsoft Office

  • B.A. / B.S. or equivalent work experience

  • Solid Edge modeling a plus but not required

MARINE SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - FULL TIME (SOUTHPORT)

Are you passionate about marine systems and enjoy working on boats? We are seeking a skilled Marine Systems Technician to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who takes pride in troubleshooting, repairing, and installing marine mechanical and electrical systems.


Responsibilities:

  •     Diagnose, repair, and maintain marine propulsion systems, generators, and auxiliary systems

  •     Install and service electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and hydraulic systems on boats and yachts

  •     Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on various marine vessels

  •     Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fuel, water, and sanitation systems

  •     Work with a team to ensure timely completion of projects and customer satisfaction

  •     Maintain accurate and timely service records and follow safety procedures


Qualifications:

  •     Previous experience as a Marine Systems Technician or similar role

  •     Knowledge of marine electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems

  •     Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals

  •     Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  •     Certification(s) from ABYC, NMEA, or equivalent (preferred)

  •     Good communication skills

  •     Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  •     Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed

MARINE FINISH CARPENTER/ BOAT BUILDER - FULL TIME (SOUTHPORT)

Are you a skilled craftsman with a passion for working on boats? We are looking for an experienced Marine Finish Carpenter / Boat Builder to join our team! This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision woodworking, detailed finishing, and high-quality craftsmanship in marine construction and restoration.


Responsibilities:

  • Construct, repair, and install interior and exterior marine woodwork

  •  Fabricate and fit custom cabinetry, bulkheads, decking, and trim

  • Work with a variety of materials, including teak, mahogany, and composites

  • Perform fine finishing, sanding, varnishing, and painting

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for boat construction and restoration

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure quality craftsmanship and timely project completion

  • Flexibility to work on many different types of projects

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety standards

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in marine carpentry, boat building, or woodworking

  • Strong knowledge of marine joinery, woodworking tools, and techniques

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

  • Experience with fiberglass and composite materials (a plus)
