CURRENT OPEN POSITIONS

MARINE FINISHER/PAINTER

LOCATION:

SOUTHPORT AND DAMARISCOTTA

A Marine Finisher is responsible for all surface preparations and coating of the vessel, may include fairing, sanding, painting, spraying and other finishing procedure.  Finishing may involve epoxy, linear polyurethanes and other marine finish products. A Finisher may also assist with preparing estimates, including interacting with Service Managers and/or Customers.

 

Five years experience in the marine finishing industry is preferred but may be substituted for experience in auto body shop finishing. The applicant must be familiar with brush and spray applications, have high quality standards and pay attention to detail. The applicant must have a keen understanding of the safety procedures, have good communication skills and be a team player. 

 

A Marine Finisher must also possess basic mathematic skills, must be able to read and understand paint mixing formulas, have flexibility to work in standing, squatting or kneeling position, work in small confined spaces, as well as reaching overhead with some twisting and bending, while performing the tasks described above. Finisher must not have a fear of heights and must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs.

MARINE MECHANIC

LOCATION: 

SOUTHPORT

Hodgdon Yacht Services on Southport is looking for an individual to expand our growing mechanics team. This position includes repair and service on all types of marine engines, both gasoline and diesel, with an emphasis on diesel inboard and generator applications. Stern drive and outboard experience are also a plus.

 

Duties include commissioning/decommissioning, troubleshooting and repair of water systems, engines, refrigeration systems, heating/cooling systems, AC and DC electrical systems and heads. Provide estimates for system upgrades and repairs typical to marine systems. Ability to research in catalogs, on-line, through dealer portals, service/parts manuals and computer sources is preferred.

 

Hodgdon offers a competitive wage, in proportion with experience. All employees working 25 or more hours a week are eligible for our generous benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 401K, paid time off and holidays. Our current work schedule is four ten-hour days, allowing for three-day weekends.

COMPOSITE TECHNICIAN

LOCATION:

DAMARISCOTTA

Hodgdon Yachts is searching for an experienced composite technician with boat construction knowledge and experience to join our team at our Damariscotta location building world class Tenders.

Technicians are responsible for building composite components using appropriate layup techniques and have working knowledge of infusion techniques. 

Duties include, material lay-up and installation, core fitting and placement, basic placement knowledge of vacuum and feed lines. Trimming and fitting completed composite components, grinding and sanding. Must be able to work with all shop tools, equipment and chemicals associated with composite construction. May be required to travel both domestically and internationally to perform Tender service and maintenance. Experience includes working with boat building, composites as well as basic math, carpentry and staging skills.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/YARD WORKER

SOUTHPORT

Hodgdon Yachts is looking for an energetic individual to join our strong team of yard operation workers. This position includes a variety of tasks including hauling/launching, detailing, bottom painting and routine maintenance of yard and buildings.


Successful applicant must be able to follow directions, be a team player who can handle physical work and be able to bend, squat, kneel and reach overhead, climb stairs and ladders, lift over 50 lbs. and not have a fear of heights. Heavy equipment operation experience are a plus.

YACHT DESIGNER

LOCATION:

DAMARISCOTTA

Hodgdon Yachts is searching for a Designer at our Tenders Division in Damariscotta, ME who will assist with the design of custom Tenders for the super yacht industry. Successful candidates will have working knowledge of mechanical design and drafting. Familiarity with naval architecture, boatbuilding methods and composite constructions are a plus. They will assist senior members of the engineering team with preparation of drawings and documentation for fabrication and construction, as well as liaise with the production manager and other members of the production team to bring designs to completion.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity with boat systems, boat construction, and naval architecture

  • Experience with 3D modeling, engineering drawing standards, and Microsoft Office

  • B.A. / B.S. or equivalent work experience

  • Solid Edge modeling a plus but not required
