Hodgdon Yachts is hiring a Human Resources Manager, based in Southport, Maine. The Human Resources Manager administers human resource policies, programs, and practices. Duties include formulating Human Resources policies and procedures and recommending company policies and practices to management. The HR Manager is responsible for recruiting and retaining talent, onboarding, and employee relations. The HR Manager provides guidance and consultation to leaders on relevant policies and practices. The successful candidate will have the desire to be part of a team, the ability to build relationships with employees across all levels of the company, and solid human resources knowledge.


Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department.

  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains company policy handbook and administers all personnel policies in consultation with senior management. Keeps employees notified of changes through internal communications, including posted notices and emails.

  • Implements and annually updates compensation and benefits program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts salary surveys; analyzes compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

  • Manages and actively participates in employee review process. Facilitates follow-up for ongoing improvement as required.

  • Maintains and updates employee files for new hires and terminations. Coordinates new employee orientations, employee relations counseling, and exit interviewing.

  • Maintains compliance with all benefit plans and government reporting requirements.

  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, students and temporary employees. Writes and places employment advertising in consultation with Marketing Department.

  • Represents the company at job fairs/recruitment events and establishes relationships with high schools, CTE schools, and training schools to inform students and educators about career and employment opportunities.

  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings.

  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency and employee engagement and retention.

  • Understands and recommends external employee training opportunities.

  • Coordinates payroll related information, including new hires, terminations, and changes in status, with Controller.

  • Performs weekly payroll in conjunction with Accounting Department.

  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus five years Human Resources experience or any appropriate combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of HR experience

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations

  • Be effective in anticipating, preventing, and solving problems in the workplace

  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

  • Most possess a high level of interpersonal skills and ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information

  • Self-starter that can work as part of a team and alone on a wide variety of projects

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide leadership

Hodgdon Yachts is hiring a full or part time Facilities Assistant, who will work in our Southport and Damariscotta facilities. Responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager with the maintenance of all facilities, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and heating systems, safety of all facilities and in-house construction and repair. Special emphasis is given to cleanliness and orderly appearance of buildings, vehicles, ramps, floats, and grounds.


Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Assist with equipment and facilities maintenance

  • Assist with maintenance of production equipment such as air compressors, vacuum pumps, woodworking equipment, etc.

  • Assist with grounds and marina maintenance


Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair methods

  • Ability to repair tools and equipment

  • Must have valid driver’s license

  • Basic hand tools are required

  • Must wear personal protection equipment as required, including a respirator

  • Must abide by safety policies and procedures


Essential Mental Functions:

A Marine Finisher is responsible for all surface preparations and coating of the vessel, may include fairing, sanding, painting, spraying and other finishing procedure.  Finishing may involve epoxy, linear polyurethanes and other marine finish products. A Finisher may also assist with preparing estimates, including interacting with Service Managers and/or Customers.


Five years experience in the marine finishing industry is preferred but may be substituted for experience in auto body shop finishing. The applicant must be familiar with brush and spray applications, have high quality standards and pay attention to detail. The applicant must have a keen understanding of the safety procedures, have good communication skills and be a team player. 


A Marine Finisher must also possess basic mathematic skills, must be able to read and understand paint mixing formulas, have flexibility to work in standing, squatting or kneeling position, work in small confined spaces, as well as reaching overhead with some twisting and bending, while performing the tasks described above. Finisher must not have a fear of heights and must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs.

Hodgdon Yachts is searching for an experienced composite technician with boat construction knowledge and experience to join our team at our Damariscotta location building world class Tenders.

Technicians are responsible for building composite components using appropriate layup techniques and have working knowledge of infusion techniques. 

Duties include, material lay-up and installation, core fitting and placement, basic placement knowledge of vacuum and feed lines. Trimming and fitting completed composite components, grinding and sanding. Must be able to work with all shop tools, equipment and chemicals associated with composite construction. May be required to travel both domestically and internationally to perform Tender service and maintenance. Experience includes working with boat building, composites as well as basic math, carpentry and staging skills.

Dock Hand: Hodgdon Yacht Services is searching for seasonal part and full time dock hands to perform a wide variety of dock duties which includes but is not limited to assisting customers moving their boats and gear around the marina and moorings and pumping fuel for customers. 

Duties include: assisting customers with tying up boats upon arrival and helping with departure, giving launch rides to and from the dock to moorings, washing boats, pumping fuel for customers, pumping holding tanks, and keeping the docks clean and orderly.

Hodgdon Yachts is searching for a Boatbuilder at our Tenders Division in Damariscotta, ME who will perform a wide variety of boat building tasks related to wood/composite tenders, including, but not limited to, fabricating/ fitting composite components, installation of deck hardware, hatches, and windows.  


  • Perform a wide variety of boat building tasks related to wood/composite yachts

  • Fabricating/ fitting composite components, installing deck hardware, hinges, latches, and handrails. 

  • Sets and operates a variety of woodworking machines, including power and hand tools

  • Must be intensely aware of quality standards



  • 3-4 years of experience, or equivalent training and experience

  • Ability to work with power and hand tools, drilling screwing, sanding, etc.

  • Ability to work within close tolerances, +- 1-2mm

  • Ability to work with large power tools such as band saws, planers, table saws

  • Work with epoxy, resins, and glues

  • Must be able to follow directions and work well within large groups of people

  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the schedule

  • Ability to wear a respirator as required

  • Must wear personal protection equipment

  • Must have basic hand tools

  • Works ‘hands on’ on multiple projects
